Welcome to the Bolzano Festival Bozen: the European capital of youth classical music
If you are looking for a unique and exciting cultural experience, get ready for the Bolzano Festival Bozen!
Every summer since 2004, this festival in the South Tyrolean city of Bolzano has become an important event for music lovers in South Tyrol. Bolzano Festival Bozen was born as a tribute to young people, who represent rebirth and the future, and to music, as a "means" to overcome all kinds of barriers, be they physical, cultural, linguistic or gender.
The festival will start on 30 July at 8.30 p.m., and it will be the performance of the Orchestra Haydn, with its renowned programme of classical-rock music, that will open this season's festival in the wonderful atmosphere of the Semirurali Park, with free entry.
An extraordinarily rich and various programme awaits you: a series of concerts, such as those of the respective youth orchestras, the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester; the Antiqua Festival engaged with Baroque Renaissance music; and the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. Also proposing their music will be the Accademia d'Archi di Bolzano and the Conservatorio C. Monteverdi, who will bring music to the courtyards and neighbourhoods of the South Tyrolean city, while pianists from South Tyrolean music schools will perform in the historical city centre. Many genres and styles will merge in a crescendo of notes that will enchant you, from classical to contemporary symphonies, performed in historical and evocative locations.
On 30 July at 6.30 p.m., at the Galleria Civica di Bolzano, there will be the opening of the exhibition marking the 150th anniversary of Busoni's birth, an exhibition on the composer's life and works to be admired, free admission.
The festival will end on 10 September at 8.30 p.m. with a piano concert of Symphony No. 5.
